The Card starred Jim Dale as Denry Machin and told the story of his rise from washerwoman's son to Mayor of Bursley through initiative, guile, and luck.

Cast included: Jim Dale, Millicent Martin, Joan Hickson, Marti Webb, Eleanor Bron and Dinah Sheridan.
