About the Lynne and Land Foundation
The Lynne and Land Foundation is a charitable organisation founded by renowned dancer, director and choreographer Dame Gillian Lynne with her husband, actor Peter Land, to encourage, nurture and support aspiring young and talented students to realise their full potential in the artistic field. The idea for the Foundation came from a conversation a few years ago about how fortunate and grateful they both were for having people helping them early on in their respective careers. Supported by a knowledgeable and experienced group of Patrons and Trustees, the Foundation helps students of the choreographic arts, drama and musical theatre to achieve their full potential by providing Scholarships and Grants to selected schools and organisations for the performing arts.
Throughout Dame Gillian Lynne’s long and distinguished career in the world of dance and performing arts, she supported many causes close to her heart, not only championing young and aspiring performers, but also passionate about giving back to the theatrical world she had felt blessed by herself. Only too aware of the difficulties in embarking on an artistic path, Gillian and Peter wanted to establish a pathway to support and nurture aspiring young individuals as well as continuing to support the arts institutions she was affiliated with - creating a Foundation seemed the logical way forward.
The Foundation prioritises financial aid to certain institutions which to date have included the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, ArtsEd, Royal Academy of Dance, The Royal Ballet School & LAMDA. Specific awards include the Dame Gillian Lynne Scholarship at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and the Lynne & Land Foundation Bursaries at ArtsEd. All these schools are known and respected for their high level of teaching standards and professionalism in the field of performing arts, providing creative and supportive environments for learning and development.
