Based on the 1841 novel by Charles Dickens, ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’, the film tells the story of a kindly shop owner (Michael Hordern) whose overwhelming gambling debts allow a greedy landlord (Mr. Quilp - Tony Newley) to seize his shop of dusty treasures. Evicted and with no way to pay his debts, the shop owner and his granddaughter are forced to flee.
