The Last Man To Hang

Film - 1956

The Last Man To Hang is a film based on Gerald Bullett’s novel ‘The Jury’ and is set in the mid 1950s when parliament was debating whether to end capital punishment in Britain. Sir Roderick Strood, played by Tom Conway, who has been having an affair, is on trial for the murder of his wife Daphne, played by Elizabeth Sellars. The action then centres on the courtroom and the jury who will decide if Sir Roderick will be found guilty and pay the ultimate price.

Gillian Lynne played the part of Gladys, the girlfriend of one of the Jurors, Gaskin, played by Tony Newley

Cast included: Tom Conway, Elizabeth Sellars, Eunice Grayson, Tony Newley, Freda Jackson, Joan Hickson, Victor Maddern, Raymond Huntley, Hugh Latimer, Ronald Simpson, 

Oscar winning director, John Schlesinger appeared in the film as Dr. Goldfinger.
