Dear World is a musical with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. It originally opened on Broadway in 1969 and won Angela Lansbury a Tony Award for Leading Actress for her performance of Countess Aurelia.
Based on Maurice Valency’s adaptation of French dramatist Jean Giraudoux’s The Madwoman of Chaillot, the story centres on Countess Aurelia and her trials and tribulations with corrupt city corporations and developers while reminiscing about her past life.

Peter Land reproduced his role in a subsequent production by the York Theatre Company at New York’s St Peter’s Theatre in 2017, directed by Michael Montel, which featured Tyne Daly, Alison Fraser, Anne Harada, Lenny Wolpe.
